Description
French Montana is a Moroccan-American rapper, producer, and the founder of the record label Coke Boys Records. The artist's real name is Karim Kharbouch. He is known to millions of listeners thanks to hits such as "Unforgettable," "Pop That," "No Stylist," and "Ain’t Worried About Nothin’," as well as dozens of successful collaborations with leading stars of the hip-hop scene.
Karim was born in Casablanca, Morocco. At the age of thirteen, he moved with his family to New York City, settling in the Bronx. Adapting to an unfamiliar country was not easy: a language barrier, financial hardships, and his father leaving the family forced the young Karim to mature early. Music became his salvation and his ticket to a new life. French Montana is fluent in English, Arabic, and French.
French's musical career began in the early 2000s with the release of mixtapes and the creation of the *Cocaine City* DVD series. His major breakthrough occurred in 2010, when the mixtape *Coke Boys* earned him widespread recognition within the hip-hop community. In 2012, French Montana signed contracts with two major labels simultaneously: Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Records and Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group.
XXL magazine included him in its "Breakthrough of the Year" list. His debut studio album, *Excuse My French* — released in 2013 — topped both the R&B and Rap Albums charts. His second album, *Jungle Rules* (released in 2017), solidified French's status as a world-class artist; the single "Unforgettable," featuring Swae Lee, earned RIAA Diamond certification and garnered over 1.8 billion views on YouTube. Other studio releases include *Montana* (2019) and *They Got Amnesia* (2021). The artist's discography comprises more than twenty mixtapes, including the cult-favorite series *Mac & Cheese* and *Coke Boys*.
French Montana is renowned for his high-profile collaborations. He has recorded tracks with Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Post Malone, Kodak Black, and many other top-tier artists. His music blends elements of trap, pop-rap, and club-oriented hip-hop.
Beyond his music career, French Montana is actively involved in charitable work. In 2018, he became an ambassador for the organization Global Citizen in recognition of his work in Uganda — making him the first hip-hop artist to be bestowed with this title. That same year, he obtained American citizenship.
French Montana continues to delight fans with new releases and concerts. In collaboration with Max B, he released a series of singles and announced a major tour: the "Wave Gods Narcos Tour." The energy of his live performances, his recognizable hits, and his charisma on stage make every French Montana concert an unforgettable event.
